With Car audio being so mysterious when it comes to good box designs and how people manage to do it. There are also many sides of box design within it self. Some go old school and follow basic guidelines to design some still pretty impressive boxes. Others, like me, go the formulated route with simulated math based programs and equations.

Long winded:

I use programs that simulate Electro-acoustical-magnetic finite elements (essentially linear algebra and matricies because what doesn't lead back to matricies in modern programs) all meshed together to give me the best predictor in response. One thing I do lack in programmed response is cabin gain prediction, but I can do some basic arithmetic to figure out quarter waves of a cabin and extract a simulated q value for it. Then transpose that onto the predicted response graph and cone displacement graph to better understand the behavior of the enclosure and subwoofer mixed together within your specific cabin.
